What good project ownership looks like

Ownership is not a title. It is the willingness to be the person who makes the next decision and holds the date.

Ownership is not a title. It is the willingness to be the person who makes the next decision and holds the date. Projects without that person drift, regardless of how many names are on the plan.

Good ownership shows up in small habits. One person knows the current status without checking. One person is chasing the single biggest blocker. One person can say what done looks like for the next milestone.

When ownership is shared across a committee, it usually means no one owns it. A committee can approve; it cannot chase. The fix is to name an owner for each active workstream and give them the authority to decide within the agreed scope.

If you are the owner, your highest-value habit is the weekly reset: confirm what is done, name the one blocker, set the next dated step. Do that every week and the project will move.
