Buying software is not the same as setting it up

Buying software is not the same as setting it up

A signed contract is the start of the work, not the end. Implementation is where the value is won or lost.

A signed contract is the start of the work, not the end of it. Too many businesses treat the purchase as the finish line and then wonder why the tool they bought never quite fits how they work.

Implementation is where the value is won or lost. The decisions made during setup — which fields to use, which steps to automate, which data to migrate — decide whether the system helps the team or just adds clicks.

A good implementation starts from the process, not the product. Map how the work actually flows today, then configure the system to support that flow. Only then train the team, because training on a half-configured tool teaches the wrong habits.

If you have already bought something and it is not working, that is recoverable. A short configuration review usually shows where the setup diverged from the real workflow, and the fixes are often smaller than expected.
